Home Sweet Home, the Navy Lodge

After a 10 hour flight from Seattle to Narita airport in Tokyo and a 2 hour drive from Narita to Yokosuka Naval Base, Kari, Ian and I arrived at our new home, the Navy Lodge.

We entered the Navy Lodge, checked-in and were directed to the elevator. Apparently, the Navy Lodge is not aware of the effect of first impressions. The elevator doors opened and...

Yes, those are blue squares of carpet on the elevator walls.

In our travel induced stupor, we loaded our 350 pound of luggage on the elevator and surprisingly ascended to our floor and made our way to our room.

The rooms are your typical 1980s "Day's Inn" style. They are large, clean and dated. The 2-burner kitchenette is adequate for short term stays but now that we are in our second month, we are ready for something more.
